Dad,
I remember the cartoon you kept at work that read, “If the meek are to inherit the Earth, what’s to become of all us tigers.”
You taught us to push and shove, to fight the good fight - win or lose.
You taught us to never quit, to get back up no matter how many times we get taken down.
You taught us the value of education and the value of debate.
You taught us that whatever we do we should do to the utmost, with passion.
You taught us that work always is to come first, but to live for the next family gathering.
You taught us to take care or our own.
You live in us, through these lessons that we pass to our children.
You slipped away so suddenly and peacefully.
Living without your presence in our world, may be the toughest lesson you teach us.
God blessed us with your indomitable Scottish Spirit,
may you receive his blessings in heaven that you earned here with us.
I love you Dad.
