Dear Helen and family, Adulthood in our family meant that you no longer had to sit at the top of the stairs when Van brought the pizza in on Friday nights-you were invited to sit at the table to hear the stories and listen to the jokes. My Mom, Betty, asked about Van and Helen when I was in CA this month with her and I decided to look you all up. It was with sadness I read the info. With symphathy, Kathy Dixon Mulvaney

I want to express my condolences to a family I've know almost my entire life. In reading this obituary, Mr. van Gelder has accomplished so much in his life, he did what he wanted to do and obviously enjoyed it, and this family should be proud of his accomplishments.
