I just came across Betsy's obituary as I was trying to contact her for the Rippowam Class of 1970 40th reunion committee. I am so sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that it's a loss for her classmates as well.

Betsy's smile had a sincerity that warmed a cold room. I remember her as a kind and generous girl who didn't need the attention or validation that most adolescents crave. She seemed very "okay" with herself, and I always admired her for that.

We will honor Betsy's memory at our reunion in Stamford next month, and you -- her family -- will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Most sincerely,
Loren Lamy Penman

A Celebration of Life

God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not meant to be.
So he put his arms around you,
And whispered, "Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove
to us, He only takes the best.

We love and miss you mom! XO Megan, Ryan, and Taylor

We would like to thank everyone for their kinds words and thoughts as we learn to deal with the loss of our mother/my wife (and lest we not forget grandmother!). This guestbook is a tribute to a very special person who we miss greatly. We think of her daily and know she is and always will be with us.

Without the support of family and friends this would be such a more difficult process.

God bless you, thank you and take time to remember Betsy with a smile as it is clear, she is smiling down on all of us.

Dear Hogarth Family,

I am a long time friend and golfmate of your dad. I met your mom once at ashbrook golf course with dick, and she was unforgettable.

What an incredible personality. She epitomized life, and happiness. I remember commenting to dick the following week, 'it was a real pleasure meeting and speaking with your wife". Her smile reminded me of my mom.

I pray god blesses your family, and never forget this wonderful woman and the impact she had on your family and friends.

My deepest condolences,

Dear Mr. Hogarth and Taylor, I am deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your wife and mother. I still have fond memories of when she would drive Taylor and I to our soccer games and lacrosse games/practice, and her old BMW that she had forever. I apologize for not making the memorial service. Again, I am very sorry for your loss. God Bless

Dear Dick and family,

I would like to express my condolences to each of you. It appears to me that you are a close knit family and love each other very much.

Kim is the only family member that I know personally, but through her I feel I know each of you and what you have gone through since November of 2008.

I am looking forward to becoming a member of your extended family when Kim and Marvin are married. I already feel like a member of this loving family.

Again, my heart breaks for each of you in this time of sorrow.

Please know that each of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Warmest regards, Dpris Choate

John 5:24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

As Christ has shown the way, Betsy has followed. Let the angels sing her name as she has crossed over to eternal life with the Father. Praise be to God!

Dick, my dear friend, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God be with you now and forever. May you be comforted by His peace.

I am profoundly saddened by the loss of Betsy. She battled with a grace and dignity that should make you proud. Among others, I will always cherish the wonderful memories of our times at Folly and her expert guidance in my shell explorations. Her genius wit and humor were classic, as was she. Take great comfort and solace in the realization that she meant so much to so many. I will miss my sister...

Dear Dick, Megan, Ryan,and Taylor:
We are so sorry to hear of Betsy's long battle with cancer and her passing. We are sending all of you our support in your profound loss. We have so many happy and fond memories of the years Betsy and all of you spent on Forest Avenue: the block parties that lasted into the night, the Halloween Haunted House, kids playing in the back yards as we sat around a back yard patio and talked. Betsy was always so full of life, adventurous. She had a wry humor that expressed both the joy and sometimes absurdity of life. Golden lady! We will miss her. We miss all of you.
