Arthur F. Readdy Jr. age 79 of Cranford, NJ passed away at Father Hudson House in Elizabeth, on Sunday March 2, 2008 after a long illness. Visitation will be at The Gray Memorial Funeral home, 12 Springfield Ave. in Cranford on Wednesday from 2-4, 7-9 PM.

A funeral mass will be offered 10 AM Thursday March 6, 2008 at St. Theresa's Church, 541 Washington Ave., Kenilworth, NJ. Interment will be at Hazel Wood Cemetery. in Rahway, NJ

Born and raised in Jersey City, Mr. Readdy has lived in Cranford for 46 years.

Surviving is his wife of 47 years Mary: a daughter Dr. Margaret Readdy and her husband Dr. Richard Ehrenborg, grandsons Theodore and Thomas of Lexington, Kentucky; son Andrew and his wife Brandi of Somerset; daughter Christine of Highland Park, brother Richard of Reading, Pennsylvania, and a sister Carole Smith of Spring Lake.

Mr. Readdy was a graduate of St. Peter's College, Jersey City, and Stevens Institute of Technology. He also attended Newark College Of Engineering (now NJIT). Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a materials engineer at Picatinny Arsenal, Dover for 20 years, and before that as a research Chemist at the Naval Supply Research & Development Facility at Bayonne for 10 years. He was also a member of American Chemical Society.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Center For Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.
